FLOP
A monument to the fictional utilitarianism of the contemporary era
Let us fast-forward a few years into the future. We can imagine that entering and surviving in a big city will only be possible with substantial support from above. It is plausible to believe that the brilliant minds devoted to social peace and relative prosperity will come up with more than a few small strokes of genius. One of them will be FLOP.
Every young person arriving in the city with high moral standards of peace and democracy, the highest work ethic, and an unbounded desire to contribute to society will, at the beginning of their journey, receive state support. Upon entry, they will be given a gift: a multifunctional device, the product of interdisciplinary work by a multitude of experts. The most basic human needs and the crushing cost of living will suddenly no longer be a problem. Tools like FLOP will enable more efficient mobility, reduce unnecessary expenses, and significantly boost individual productivity.
That’s why we are already erecting a monument to the brilliant idea of solidarity and its contribution to social well-being. FLOP is a monument to the fictional utilitarianism of the contemporary era. It is a multifunctional tool designed to help young minds through the first—and hardest—hours in the big city. Entering the very core of all knowledge and opportunity is, in itself, a courageous act. The gentrified beast allows survival only to the most resilient. The road to the stars is a game of endurance.
Special thanks to Douglas Adams for being an inexhaustible source of cynicism and for offering a delightfully entertaining view of the future.
